[Article submitted by Zbojcerze (85)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Winter arrived. Elven Hive assimilated winter. Elven Hive expanded on the shores of Mompi island and yearned to expand over ocean. Also new needs appeared. Now Elven Hive needed stone and iron. [Article submitted by Elven Hive (59)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "Thraneshamn?" Uthark shook his head in disbelief and stifled a yawn. "Yeah. It means Thrane's Port in the viking tongue. I had a few drink with our viking warriors and we talked a bit." Thrane replied and leaned to the door frame to steady himself. "I figured that much. You want to rename Ibangbach after your own name?" "Hell yeah! I've lived here more than anyone else except the elves and they don't have a say in what we do about their old place anyway. The viking folks think it's a good idea. Better than Ibangbach anyway." "All right. Anything else you wanted to tell me in the middle of the night?" "The builders found a name for our new tower: Dragentarn. It means..." "Let me guess: Dragontower. Fine. I don't care. Feel free to rename whatever you want." Uthark said and closed the door of his quarters. "What was it all about?" Cirri asked from the bed. "Thrane just informed us about our change of address. Second floor of Dragentarn in the village of Thraneshamn in Fofield province." Uthark said with a wry smile and climbed back to bed. Our friend Anuii used his bigger army and better skilled tactician to attack us and we could not outmaneuver them as planned. There is a difficulty now, the challenge we always wanted. And the bigger the challenge, the more glory for us if we win in the end. So let's see how it goes :) Beigtais [Article submitted by Dii Minores (42)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Wizard said to the nervous solder, "Tell me again exactly what you saw." The soldier swallowed and stammered, "W.well, behind the d.d..dragon, there was a big kind of round thing. Like a huge barrel hoop on its edge. I..err..didn't see much...The dragon made a noise and I ran." The wizard dismissed the soldier with a wave of his hand, then murmured to himself, "Could it be? A Gate in the dragon's lair?" News from his allies the elves spoke of a slaughter in the town below. Due to no message from the Disaster Inc Faction, a Disaster had truely unfolded. Disasters troops attacked the town, expecting support from our mages, however with no communications for the last two months, Lord Critchen III found ti unwise to charge in in case the roles were reversed. Things would have to happen to repair the rift between the two empires. A tribute to replace the brave warriors was being prepared to send south to Disaster Inc. Now it would be many months before an assualt could take place, with the weather setting in for the monsoon months. [Article submitted by Havilah Trading Co Op (75)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Winter is back at the cities of Epol and Durshire. Four months of snow, rain and wet roads begin, but despite all tasks of reconstruction have to begin in both cities to lead them to a wealthier era now that city guards have surrended. Pausing their magic studies, the mages at Epol cast spells to keep away the worst of winter weather and allowing resources to reach the city. When winter ends we'll be ready to continue war against our enemies, and perhaps we can leave our defensive position to make them pay for their offenses. [Article submitted by Mathoyoh (13)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - The Knight! We are ready for the quick march. I cannot say that troops are the best, but I had to prepare them before the monsoon season. We will not fail you! This time we work withouth the mages, and I must say I am damn glad, sir! The discipline is the rock now. I always say them mages are good when we need to fry some meat, but at the field they decrease the morale. Remember the fur balls, the Knight? Same thing was at the last city battle - according to the common sense I had to put the reserves behind, at the gates, but that damn mages made a freezer there and my poor dwarves were crawling through the suburbs. Reserves came 20 minutes after the battle was over! What will you say next time to that? Alas, now they are good... their fireballs are quite nice at making crispy steakes. Though my men with each month become better and soon they will not consider that stupid fire useful a little bit. You'll see! Your mages will be just sitting in their towers and predicting the weather! Mua-ha-ha! - So be it, War chief. You go without them. But I tell you they learn quicker than your brethern. Way quicker... Swamps don't burn as much as plain grass and we couldn't move as fast as in plains and had to use boats, but it makes more smoke, so we stayed there and did what we could. We split in groups of three and used some boats, where it wasn't possible to use foots and was enough liquid or water, that allowed boats to stay afloat. This was really scary place, since there were lairs of monsters and here and there you could hear some shrieking screams. We were sitting in the boat, three brave monkeys and heard these screams approach to us and I must say that even I was starting to feel uncomfortable. So, everyone in boat was getting very tense, that oars even stopped and just current of inertia was carrying us further. Then, unexpectedly, someone bluish appeared near our boat and I just whacked him with oar and after that he just screamed - "Why?! Not again!!!" Poor goblin... General Apathy cut rations and told us all to shape up and lose a few pounds. Easy for him, he has to just doff his armour! Leadership always says one thing then does the other. Rolkfield is still contested. The Zora forces outnumber us three to two, but they are ill disciplined nomads and elves. Their leader enthusiastically screeches about termination. I'm hoping a horses hoof or a crossbow bolt find his head. Wish they would get it over with or leave. Heard their claimed cities are empty, bloody hypocrites if you ask me. Still, morale is high as the alliance grows. Rumour has it the beetle men are about to join in the fray, and Lady Delune is due to make an appearance. I have to say though, the only good thing to come of this is more goat stew served up in beetle carapaces. Now that's some tasty eating! Your son, Gunter the self proclaimed viking overlord of Rolkfield [Article submitted by Naughty Princesses (35)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The scout squelched through the endless swamps, heading for the fabled plains that the messanger had described. Avoiding lizardmen, Rocs and other roaming monsters, the plains at last came into sight in the far distance. Gleaming lights from a half dozen settlements glittered in the night sky. One more month of toil and he would be on the open savannah. Finally the two factions could exchange information and begin the creation of a great civilisation down in the plain settlements. Endless oppurtunities awaited. Allt he hard work was finally paying off. [Article submitted by Orion (71)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Since ancient times, people have dreamed about conquering the sea elements. First they built a small boats and went out in the open sea at their own risk. Then sailboats were invented and people could already started in the big trip. Later, it was a time of great ships, clippers, galleons, and people couldn't to fear the wrath of sea gods. But science doesn't stand still, new technologies comes with every century. And someday we will see an amazing miracle of human thought with sophisticated equipment will drop in our harbor. And there will come a day when the sea routes are no longer needed, because humankind invent new ways of transportation. But before that day will be a lot of time . In the meantime, all of us are the harbingers of the future, taking first steps in this direction. Soon ships will flock to our harbor from all over the world. Merchants will carry food and jewelry, furs and weapons. And this is just the beginning of a long way. The plans were laid for the teaching of these keen students under the watchful eye of the Professor. Truely this would become a centre for learning and power. [Article submitted by AFCG (38)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- While spring is in the air there is little here that makes us feel happy. The lich still lives, and my troops have to dig the graves for many men, both friend and foe. Their journey ends here in Pentgaland. They shall no longer make soup together. My final words for Beigtais: Rest in peace.
