********************************************************************** **** The Havilah Times **** ********************************************************************** **** October, Year 5 Edition **** ********************************************************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - ****NEWS ARTICLES**** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The long truce between the two empires was to come to an end. Orion was disappointing as it had served both partners well and both had respected the common borders. Noble gentlemen would soon become foes on the battlefield. A more noble and trustworthy foe we shall not meet in a long time. may the battles be huge and the tactics fun. the gauntlet is thrown down and December shall see the two meet on the field. Lord Orion [Article submitted by Orion (71)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Northern Rout "Timeline" continued: Month Five - Just a few stragglers remain in the warzone, though death is expected this month. A total of 82 beetles have escaped across the sea to start anew. New friends, same enemies and old friends have become estranged. And so the knights lies, said often enough now become truth, and the truth declared in honesty previously will now become lies. And so the Beetles have still never lied, but now those truths become untrue! For such a small thing as an insect brain this has driven many beetles to magic or bourbon. Dragons in only 2.09 years! The ship had left miles ago the company of the rest of the fleet, flying to the eastern sea and leaving the main group to larboard. That claimed attention of Captain Lyama, who left his dinner and went to the rudder to know what happened... only to see terrified the helsmen corpses on deck while Vyninr himself was leading the ship towards the tundras to the south from Durshire. Vyninr was wearing the Bronze Crown, which was glowing in a ghostly light. Lyama knew nothing about the Crypt of the Banished Warriors, which years ago was the lair of a Liche, owner of the Crown until an army from Durshire succeeded in hunting him and his undead army. The Bronze Crown was carried to Durshire as a gift to Vyninr and a proof of the party success and the Chancellor took it as a Trophy. Lyama had always lived at the southern forests of Myyecme and knew nothing about that. If he did he'd have recognized the place just below the airship, the Ancient Crypt. Suddenly Vyninr turned his blind eyes to him, snorted, and jumped overboard. The Liche had returned. The first Disciple said: Yes still. We expected the Frozen Sails, but at the moment the summer has begun in the South. Zoroaster said: No winter, no Southern Storm to blow in his sails! The first Disciple said: Yes, but we think that his weather mages do not need storms, they make storms themselves. Zoroaster said: By the way we want to express that the Deathscarab has lost battles, but not the war. He will come back! The alignment of the stars and moon must be off, there can't be another reason for such agression on a global scale. I am still alive, but at this rate I might have to check that again next month. One to a thousand? Lucky me! [Article submitted by Knights of the Past (26)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The fleet sailed into the harbor of Trucdon without hesitation. As orcs jumped overboard and swam to the shore, this time the tactician of Empire outmanoeuvred Zorastrians. With fire of dragons and rain of arrows, the remaining Zorastrians were killed and Trucdon was returned to the Empire. None of Empire's orcs died there this month. While outside celebrations ran amok, the Emperor sat in his cabin on the flagship and studied maps, while secretary read over pigeon messages. The news were not good: Zorastrians had killed most Empire's scouts remaining in neighbourhood, destroyed the last producers nearby Trucdon and now they were decimating settlements of Red Army, Nexus Top Team and Elven Hive. They had also destroyed the couriers that had been sailing away with large silver treasury. "Terrible news all around," sighed Emperor. "Well let's rebuild the Trucdon and try to catch at least some of roaming Zorasters while weather is good!" he ordered. Another messenger arrived. He bowed and told that the mysterious man has been met in Polinfolk's mountains. This news cheered Emperor a bit as a sign of good luck. He ordered help to be provided to mysterious man, gave orders to orcs in Trucdon and strode out. The steep Ponlinfolk's cliffs greeted his sight and he decided that some more sea travel will be healthy for him. Some orcs will stay in Trucdon, but new recruits will join now. The last message that Emperor carried with him told that there are more of veteran Zora warriors sighted in tundra. "Set sail to the south!" ordered Emperor. Beigtais [Article submitted by Dii Minores (42)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- News from the front: 1400 casualities taken this month. Mages at it again. Most of them had a fitting end in the vast Fegwern swamps, where they joined the thousands of others. That takes care of the plans and maintenance of those orcs. So that is another army and another 5% of our able bodied men roasted by dragons. Lots more where those came from. Investors were presented with the news as a brilliant cost cutting measure. Stock prices are up. [Article submitted by Disasters Inc (18)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Last month one faction quitted: Titans (6), one of the first factions that started in this new world. No new factions! Since the start of the game: Factions started: 117 Factions: quitted: 54 Factions remaining: 63 After my statement that the Southern Storm Alliance uses unethical ways to win in Atlantis, two of her members contacted the Zoroastrians. First a little history: the story started with a request from the faction Land of Schmucks (114) to the Zoroastrians. The person that started Land of Schmucks was willing to be of service to the Zoroastrians in exchange for peace between both their factions. After some hesitation the Zoroastrians agreed. Zoroaster helped him to learn the first principles of the game and with his development. In return Land of Schmucks would produce goods for the Zoroastrians. After months (Atlantis time), wherein the Zoroastrians invested a lot of time in answering many questions and helping to develop an extending production, the faction Land of Schmucks suddenly quitted. Quitted without telling the Zoroastrians any reason and without delivering the promised goods to the Zoroastrians. Then, to my surprise, when I was routinely looking to the new list of all factions, I saw that the email addresses of the old faction Beaufort (64) and the recent faction (114) where the same. That aroused my suspicion. During the last week the leader of the Frozen Sails (67), the old leader of the faction Beaufort (64) and the old leader of the Land of Schmucks (114) contacted the Zoroastrians. After hearing them Zoroaster informed me that he is convinced that there was no foul play. Both the former and the new leader of faction (64) have apologized. The Zora has accepted their apology. Still remaining is the fact, that the leader of the faction (114) quitted the game without a warning. Still an unsympathetic act. After receiving the new information I withdraw my statement that the Southern Storm Alliance was involved in the whole story. I am also convinced that they knew nothing beforehand about the arrangement between the old and new leader of their allied faction (64). [Article submitted by Kunlun (93)] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Elven Hive for the first time entered underground. The underground was not a good place to be. It was dark, full of terrors and almost no elves lived there, based few dark elven leaders in underground settlements. However, right there was many enemies to be assimilated and assimilated they will be. It took too long. One month more and there would be no place to return. Fortunate - we are on time to take part in biggest battle (as we belive) in history of Havillah. Biggest batlles are dangerous in that meaning that easily could be called The Last big battle of X, this time for Frozen Sails and Nexus Top Team or Zora. It was quaiet front so long. But when fights started they were violent and brute - and quick. Zora gave us few free lessons about consequency and brevery and how to perfectly and quickly realize plan.I would say we didn't manage to rise any significant defence, nothing more than giving out freely few thousands of xbows, shields, battleaxes, etc..all together. If we survive this month - it will be good, we will have a chance to die next one. But if we survive this turn and next one, it will be the begining of end of Equator Calm. I hope there is no such big second army behind scene ? Besides spoils after this battle will be enormous... piles of advanced fine weapons and armours. In meantime we've got word about possible big battles on other fronts. Looks like shortly we will know who is standing and who has fallen.
